A debate over xenophobia in Malawi

A debate over the term “xenophobia” has led to disagreement between Nigerian and South African lawmakers at the 55th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Africa Region Conference in Lilongwe, Malawi. While South Africa’s delegation argues that the term should not be used and prefers “illegal immigrants”, Nigerian lawmakers and other MPs have opposed the position.
